Social Phobia / Social Anxiety Association A non-profit organization with a wealth of resources and information for those suffering from social anxiety. American Foundation for Suicide Prevention A non-profit organization dedicated to research and education in order to prevent suicide. American Psychiatric Association A membership-based organization that publishes materials for both professionals and the public, in addition to establishing guidelines relevant to the field of mental health. American Psychological Association A membership-based scientific and professional organization that represents psychology in the United States. With 150,000 members, APA is the largest association of psychologists worldwide. American Psychotherapy Association The American Psychotherapy Association was formed to provide credentialing, standards of practice, professional identity, and self-regulation for the psychotherapy profession. American Public Health Association The American Public Health Association is the oldest, largest and most diverse organization of public health professionals in the world and has been working to improve public health since 1872. The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) NAMI is the National Alliance on Mental Illness, the nation’s largest grassroots organization for people with mental illness and their families. Founded in 1979, NAMI has affiliates in every state and in more than 1,100 local communities across the country. Depressed Anonymous Offers a 12-step program for overcoming depression. Mental Health America Mental Health America (formerly known as the National Mental Health Association) is the country’s leading nonprofit dedicated to helping ALL people live mentally healthier lives. National Institute of Mental Heath The largest scientific organization in the world dedicated to research focused on the understanding, treatment, and prevention of mental disorders and the promotion of mental health. Psychology Self-Help Resources on the Internet Provides links to sites providing free information and help about specific disorders related to psychology. These sites might offer commercial products, but in order to qualify for inclusion here, a substantial amount of information must be offered free of charge.
