2010: The year you crush fear!

"2010: The year you crush fear!"

A new year offers us the chance to leave the past behind and start anew. What would you do in 2010 if you knew you couldn't fail? Has fear stopped you from attempting this in the past? Are you too afraid of failure and embarrassing yourself to give it a shot?.

If so, it's time to make 2010 the year you crush your fear!

Famed U.S. General George S. Patton once said, "Fear kills more people than death. Death kills us but once, and we usually don’t even know it. But fear kills us over and over again. Suddenly at times, and brutally at other times."

Human nature tells us to avoid that which we fear. If we're talking about a hungry lion, sure that makes sense. However, what about avoiding flying, going to the dentist, dating, or other social situations that millions of people fear? What is the cost of this type of avoidance?

When I was suffering from extreme social anxiety, every day was a constant struggle. The more I avoided my fears, the more power I gave them until they completely controlled my life and dictated what I could and could not do.

The path to freedom lies in gathering up the courage to face your worst fears. You have to run towards the roar of the lion! This is hard to do, and most people choose instead to avoid their fears, feeling it's an easier choice. But at some point you must ask yourself, what is this avoidance costing me? Are you willing to trade a lifetime of avoidance and limitations for the brief discomfort of facing your fears?

I can tell you from personal experience that facing your worst fears is the most exhilirating, energizing, self-empowering thing we humans can do. It changes your perspective and opens your eyes to your unlimited potential.

In my recently released book I show you in great detail how I worked to systematically overcome my worst fears including, riding crowded public transportation, and public speaking. This approach can be used to overcome any socially-based fear.

I challenge all of you to make 2010 the year you stop running from your fear. Once you turn around and face him, that lion isn't so tough after all!

Cheers!
