Meditation Momentum
As you've probably picked up through reading my posts in the forum (and that I clearly state in my upcoming book), meditation is one of the most important things you can do to obtain a peaceful mind. While meditating every now and then will certainly help you out, you'll find that making it a part of your daily routine will change its practice entirely.
Let me explain...
To get the most out of meditation, practicing at least once per day for 30 minutes is really the minimum required effort. I've personally found that if I skip a day or two, or even a week in some cases - when I next meditate, it takes me MUCH longer to get into a relaxed state of mind.
It's as if your mind gets clogged up with all of these unhealthy and maladaptive thoughts. Sure meditation helps you unclog these things, but if you take a few days off, you'll find that these clogs return to an extent. This means your next meditation session will mostly be spent filtering out all the newly built-up garbage instead of really getting into a super-relaxed state of mind and zenning out.
So challenge yourself - make it a point starting today to meditate for at least 30 minutes the next 3 days. Note the tremendous difference in day #1 versus day #3, and how much more at peace you feel after day 3. If you experience firsthand how powerful it is to meditate regularly, I doubt you'll be missing many days in the future.
Cheers!
