Get Some Rays!

Cabin Fever. Have you ever heard that term? In a nutshell, it refers to that anxious feeling that one needs to get outside, or get some fresh air. As I live in Chicago, where the winters basically last half the year, believe me I am no stranger to this feeling. But now that Spring is here, what are you waiting for?

Get outside as much as possible and get some rays!!!

In our busy Western society lives, sometimes we forget that we are actually living beings that require not only nourishment and mental stimulation, but also physical activity, fresh air, and the sun. If you think you can lead a balanced life sitting under fluorescent lighting while hammering away on a computer for 12 hours a day, sipping coffee the entire time, think again.

Did you know that sunshine is actually GOOD for you in moderation? Not only is this a physical fact (it provides you various nutrients), but think of the psychological benefits. Is there really anything better than feeling the warmth of the sun on your face as you sit in quiet contemplation? You see animals do it all the time, instinctively seeking out sunshine and basking in it. Anyone who's ever owned a cat has certainly seen this behavior.

I encourage all of you to find your inner kitty. Seek out the sun, bask in it, stretch out and relax in the rays. Not only does this provide wonderful warming physical and mental effects, it can be a very peaceful form of meditation.

Cheers!
