Confidence follows...
When you're feeling anxious and depressed, your self confidence drops dramatically. Accordingly, you don't feel up to facing any challenges, or pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone. Instead, you prefer to face such challenges sometime down the road, when you're feeling better and more confident in your abilities.
The irony is that facing your fears and putting yourself into difficult situations is the easiest way to build confidence and belief in yourself.
The day may never come when you wake up and magically feel up to finally facing your greatest fears. It just doesn't work that way. Instead, the key is to start pushing yourself beyond your comfort zone today, even if only by a little. Each small victory conjures up positive feelings and belief in yourself, which continues to build as you repeat this process.
Just remember, the confidence comes AFTER facing your fears and pushing yourself beyond your limits, not the other way around.
Cheers!

I would love to be able to just do that. It seems I do for one day, and then the next, I fall back. My biggest challenge right now is to stop smoking on my own. I've been trying and trying and I just don't know what to do.
